I’ve decided my MOTD has gotten stale. What better to do with your free time than to look up escape sequences?

Bringing annoyances to the terminal, one color code at a time.

An alternative for chucklesome MOTDs that I setup on one of my boxes.
Setup a crontab entry for root with your preferred times (every 5 minutes for me) and run the following command:
/usr/games/fortune | /usr/bin/cowsay > /etc/motd
You will need fortune and cowsay installed of course.
This’ll certainly make my MOTD much more interesting. Fortune + Cowsay ftw
