Shiny New Cards

10.04 is two weeks away, and with that is some new branding. You know what that means: new business cards. Martin Owens has already created a nice design to use. I decided to go a different direction and create a simpler white card:

The template for Ubuntu Members is available here. Save & open in Inkscape; I haven't found any other viewer that will properly display the layout. (It won't look too well in your browser, either.)

Several notes:

  • Please make sure you are an official Ubuntu Member before using or printing these cards, otherwise you don't necessarily have the right to carry them.
  • I recommend printing with Vistaprint, because they are cheap, the cards are of good quality, and that is what I designed the template around.
  • It's formatted for 90mm x 52mm, based on dimensions provided by Vistaprint.
  • When exporting for printing, use PNG at 300 DPI (sample output here). Normally I'd recommend using PDF, but it doesn't turn out too well for this layout.
  • Stay inside the bleed border, shown by the light blue lines in the template, unless you know what you're doing.

Enjoy.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark!

Now THAT is classy! Hope I can become a member someday.

Wow! Just like my current "official" cards but so nice and tasteful. I love it! I've been wondering about updating my cards for lucid, and I may just reorder my cards with this beautiful and elegant design.
